English Translation

There is also a story about the butterflies and the monkeys.
The monkeys were saying, “You butterflies, you’re all useless”
“Don’t be so sure.  If we didn’t exist you couldn’t eat!”
“Why’s that?  That we couldn’t eat?”
“We are the ones that pollinate the plants.”
“That’s worthless, butterflies.  You’re just a bunch of caterpillars.  A bunch of worms.”
That’s true.  Before a butterfly comes out it starts as a worm!
Then it transforms into a butterfly.  The caterpillar that is.
“Yeah right.  Let’s fight!”
The butterflies said, “Great!  That’s what we’re here for.  We don’t like you monkeys putting us down.”
The head monkey summoned the monkeys.  Ho, ho (sound of the monkey.  “What’s up?”
“The butterflies want to fight.”
“Who do they think they are?!  All they do is fly.  We can just crumple them.  Tear them to shreds.”
They asked the butterflies, “When do you want to fight?  What day?”
“Anyday.”
When the day came about, the sky was half covered with butterflies.
As well as for the monkeys.  All sorts of monkeys were there.
“Alright, who’s first?”
The monkeys said, “You first.”
So the leader of the butterflies said,
“Fly over there onto the monkey’s forehead.”
(The monkey king orders) “Now get out there.  Bring a club.  Hit the thing.  Go out there and hit him.”
The butterfly escaped.  A monkey got knocked off his feet.
The butterfly had flown off.  The club hit its mark (on the other monkey)  The monkey was bleeding.
“Ouch! Why did you club me?”
“There was a butterfly on your head.”
It had flown away though.  The monkey died.
“Alright, who wants to do the clubbin’?”
“Just show me where to find a club?”
“Go land on his knee.” said the butterfly leader.
“You can’t even hit that thing?  Come on.”
“Now just come on. I’ll hit you with this club of fire.”
It was a swift club.
“Alright, go on.  Land.”
A large butterfly landed on the monkey.
“Alright.  Get him.  Get him with the club.”
Once again the butterfly flew off.
“Youch!  Why did you smack my knee?”
“Well that’s where the butterfly landed.”
The monkey’s knee was injured.
The head monkey said, “Last. If three times we can’t hit that butterfly we might as well surrender.  He’s too swift.”
So next a butterfly would land on the other knee.
“He already hit your right knee?”
“That’s right, so lets try the left knee.”
“Go ahead butterfly.”
It was a beautiful butterfly that landed on the monkey.
The monkey said, “Just go down.  Don’t pull any tricks.”
“You got nothing.”
“Hit him.  Smack him with the club.”
“Ouch! Ouch!”
The monkey’s leg went into convulsions.  It crippled him.
The monkey king said, “We surrender.”
“Why are you giving up?”
“They’ll wipe us out.  These butterflies can’t be gotten rid of.”
“So that’s it?  You surrender?”
“We surrender.”
“We butterflies are helpful.  All you do is steal things.”
So they defeated them?
The monkeys were defeated.  That’s the thing with monkey’s they are nothing but a bunch of rascals.
